About

My name is Jonathan Easterbrooke. The Purbeck Pop-Up Pottery Project is a small, heartfelt community initiative I created to share the wellbeing and quiet joy that come from simple, hands-on creativity. After many years as a local GP, I’ve held onto my belief in “enthusiastic kindness” and in making every encounter a positive and uplifting one. My pop-up tent at the Purbeck Art Weeks Festival showed me just how powerful creativity can be—people’s faces lighting up with pride as they threw their first bowl, often having never tried anything artistic before. Living in a rural area like Purbeck, many people feel isolated by limited transport, low income or health difficulties. By bringing pottery directly into community spaces, I can remove those barriers and reach carers, single parents, older people and anyone who might benefit from a gentle, creative moment in their week. I also want the project to feel truly open and welcoming, so I never charge for my time—just a small amount to cover materials and travel—making it easy and pressure-free for local groups to invite me in.

Mission
