Connecting Through Creativity

The Purbeck Pop-Up Pottery Project is a community initiative designed to uplift spirits and improve wellbeing through hands-on pottery sessions. Our goal is to foster connection and creativity in Purbeck.

Founded by a former local GP, the project aims to bring creative experiences to people who don’t usually get the chance to enjoy them, helping to ease isolation and strengthen community connections through shared making. Together, we celebrate joy, curiosity and personal growth through pottery. The sessions aren’t designed to be therapeutic or directed at any specific group — they simply offer a warm, welcoming space where anyone can experience a moment of creativity, happiness and wellbeing.

how it works

Each workshop is fully bespoke and planned in close conversation with the group coordinator, and can be offered as a joyful one-off session or as a series of workshops over a longer period to suit the needs and interests of the group.

What I can offer you

I provide everything needed for a relaxed, confidence-building pottery session—clay, tools, equipment, guidance, and always a welcoming smile. People can try throwing a pot or simple hand-building, enjoying the calming magic of making something with their own hands. Sessions are friendly, inclusive and designed for anyone who could use a boost. And because connection matters as much as creativity, there’s always homemade cake, gentle humour and plenty of good-natured jokes.

How it works

I can offer anything from a quiet 1-to-1 session to a friendly group workshop of up to 12 people. Sessions are suitable for anyone aged 6 and above, and I’m very happy to adapt for people with additional needs (though group size may need adjusting to keep things calm and supported). When you get in touch, we’ll chat through the details — timing, group size, the type of pottery activity you’d like, and any specific needs or arrangements for your group.

What I need from you

The group coordinator will organise their participants, arrange the venue and help spread the word. On the day, I’ll arrive with everything needed for a relaxed two-hour session; all you need is a table, some chairs and a kettle. I’ll bring the clay, tools, humour and plenty of encouragement!

Handmade Pottery

How much does a session cost?

Not much at all. I happily give my time for free, and only ask for a small contribution towards clay and other essentials.
